Frequently Asked Questions

Legacy In Motion (LIM)

1. What is Legacy in Motion (LIM)? A fundraising campaign for TLC powered by TLC. This initiative is designed to enable meaningful, sustained financial support by members of the TLC. Toigo has always been built through a combination of institutional support and individual commitment. While corporate engagement remains important, it is less predictable today, and that makes the role of this community even more meaningful.

2. How does the Legacy in Motion campaign relate to the Toigo Alumni Endowment? The Legacy in Motion campaign is coordinated by the Toigo Foundation and directly supports alumni programming, leadership development, student pipelines, and community-building initiatives. All contributions to this Campaign sustain the Foundation’s ongoing operations and long-term impact. The Toigo Alumni Endowment is a separately incorporated 501(C)(3) founded by volunteer alumni and governed independently from the Foundation. While it has historically provided an annual contribution to the Foundation, it operates with its own mission, structure and funding priorities. The Legacy in Motion campaign offers a direct pathway for alumni who wish to strengthen current programs, expand opportunities, and invest in Toigo’s future growth.

3. How does LIM support TLC? Your gift sustains programs, events, thought leadership, and alumni engagement that make TLC a powerful network. From investment conferences to a robust alumni platform, your giving ensures programming remains high-quality, relevant, and accessible.

4. What are ways I can help? Check out the various ways to make contributions to the Legacy in Motion campaign under “Ways to Give.” Additionally, please consider becoming an alumni ambassador, helping us promote LIM and reach our target raise of $20 million by 2030. If you are considering additional ways to contribute to the Legacy in Motion campaign beyond the giving options highlighted here, we welcome a conversation. Contact us at LIMInitiative@toigofoundation.org to discuss meaningful avenues for partnership and impact.

Toigo Legacy Collective (TLC)

1. What is Toigo Legacy Collective (TLC)? Formerly Toigo Alumni Association, Toigo Legacy Collective is a platform to unite alumni through professional development and networking opportunities. TLC serves as a trusted community for curated connections and opportunities for members.

Giving Options

1. Are gifts tax-deductible? Yes. The Robert Toigo Foundation is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit. All contributions to the Legacy in Motion campaign are fully tax-deductible. You will receive a tax receipt via email after donating.

2. What is a multi-year pledge and why does it matter? A multi-year pledge (often 2–5 years) allows alumni to make a larger investment over time, giving Toigo the stability needed to plan programming, scale initiatives, and strengthen long-term impact. You can choose monthly, quarterly, or annual installments.

3. What happens if I make a pledge and can no longer fulfill it? While we hope this is never the case, we understand that personal or financial circumstances can change. Please contact AccountsReceivable1@toigofoundation.org to recharacterize your pledge.

4. How does covering the transaction fee affect my donation? Covering the fee increases your total contribution and ensures Toigo receives the full amount of your intended gift. For example, if you donate $100 and pay with a Visa card, the processing fee is $2.50. •If you cover the fee, your total charge is $102.50 and Toigo receives the full $100. •If you do not cover the fee, Toigo receives $97.50. Covering fees helps Toigo maximize every dollar going to programs and alumni support.

5. How do I make a gift of stock? Gifts of stock are a tax-efficient way to support Toigo. We hold a Merrill Lynch account for stock donations. After initiating the transfer with your brokerage, please contact AccountsReceivable1@toigofoundation.org so we can confirm receipt and provide the appropriate tax acknowledgment.

6. Can my employer match my gift? Yes. Many Toigo alumni work at firms with generous matching programs. Employer matches count toward your total annual giving level and can double—or even triple—your impact. After you make a gift, simply request a match through your employer’s matching gift portal or HR team and notify AccountsReceivable1@toigofoundation.org.

7. Can I give through my Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)? Absolutely. Toigo accepts DAF contributions from all major providers (Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, community foundations, etc.). If you would like to make your LIM campaign donation through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), please contact our Accounts Receivable team at accountsreceivable1@toigofoundation.org. When contacting us, please include your intention to donate, pledged amount, and any other relevant details. Our team will provide the information and instructions needed to complete your DAF contribution.

8. Does purchasing a ticket to Toigo’s annual dinner support the Legacy in Motion campaign? No. Ticket purchases for our annual dinner are not considered unrestricted gifts and are not 100% tax-deductible charitable contributions. To make a philanthropic gift that directly fuels Toigo’s mission, we encourage you to give to the Legacy in Motion campaign.

9. What happens if a check or payment has insufficient funds? If a check or ACH payment cannot be processed due to insufficient funds, a small bank-assessed re-accounting fee will be applied. The Foundation will discretely notify you so you can resolve the issue or provide an alternate form of payment.

10. Can I direct my gift toward a specific program? While unrestricted gifts provide the most flexibility and greatest long-term impact, donors may express interest in specific areas. We are happy to discuss options that align with your philanthropic goals. Please contact LIMInitiative@toigofoundation.org for assistance.
